Race reviews

Reviews give other runners an honest sense of what to expect before they enter a race. On OCR Guide, participants rate obstacle races and HYROX events across five categories, each on a scale of one to five stars.

The five review categories

The categories are course, obstacles, organisation, value for money and atmosphere. Course covers the route and terrain, obstacles their variety and quality. Organisation includes points such as check-in, start waves and how the day ran on site. Value for money weighs the entry fee against what you get, and atmosphere captures the mood among participants and at the finish area.

Who can leave a review

Reviews are meant for people who actually took part in the event they are rating. You do not need an account. You give your name and email address, and our editors check every review before it goes live. You can optionally attach photos and videos from the event.

Moderation

Every review is checked by our editorial team before it is published. Fair criticism, even sharp criticism, stays online. We remove insults, adverts, and reviews that are clearly not based on real participation.

Why reviews help other runners

For new or lesser known events especially, reviews often make up for the lack of first-hand accounts within your own network. Comparing several reviews of the same event gives a more realistic picture than the organiser’s announcement alone.
